Bentiu Governor Wejang pays courtesy visit to Rotriak Payam

Bentiu: Governor Dr Joseph Manytuil Wejang on Monday made a courtesy call visit to Rotriak Payam of Rubkona County to inspect the general situation and affirm the commitment of his administration to deliver basic services to the people of Rotriak ( Kondial).

The visit comes after seven months of cutting off the road linking Bentiu and Rotriak Payam and aiming to scale up important developmental projects that have been hindered by its implementation due to the devastating flood.

Addressing thousands of people gathered at Rotriak Playing Ground, Governor Dr Joseph Manytuil Wejang conveyed the message of peace from President Salva Kiir Mayardit to the people of Rotriak and appreciated the people of Rotriak payam for the extraordinary reception.

Governor called on the people of Rotriak to maintain peace and unity with the people of Ruweng Administrative Area and added that the people of Unity State and Ruweng Administrative Area are one people with common culture and history. Our relationship with Ruweng Administrative Area is historical and bound together as the people of Bentiu. “We will not allow wrong elements who want to separate us based on ethnicities line, and we will continue to reject any divisive language that promotes disunity and hatred among the people of Unity State and Ruweng Administrative”.

Governor Dr Joseph Manytuil Wejang said the State government is embarking on developmental projects to construct more schools, hospitals and water yards in Rotriak. The State government is working to improve the education system in the State, our children must go to school, and girls must be the leading in numbers more than boys. Manytuil reiterated that the State government must perhaps take responsibility for street children by sponsoring both their accommodation and education, as its already accommodated twenty-seven (27 ) street children in Bentiu Town.

Governor Dr Joseph Manytuil Wejang urged the parents to stop force marriage and regarded it as an old culture that no longer fit in our society.

On his part, the Acting Commissioner of Rubkona County and Rotriak Payam Administrator, Mr Malek Kier, congratulated Dr Joseph Manytuil Wejang for his immense support to the people of Unity State and Rotriak Payam in particular. He added that the people of Rotriak Payam need more water facilities and schools.
