Botswana: The Assistant Minister of Education and Skills Development, Aubrey Lesaso praised teachers for their efforts. The politician believes that teachers are making sincere efforts and providing quality education to learners.

The teachers of Botswana are playing a significant role in providing quality education to the students of the country. The country’s ministry of education has been acknowledging the great strides the teachers are making for quality education.

He acknowledged that they are working hard despite the challenges they encounter in their profession.

The assistant Minister of Education Lesaso made these remarks when he was visiting some schools in the Central Region. He indicated that the purpose of his visit was to get firsthand information on the educational needs of schools.

According to him, the situation provides him an opportunity to understand the demands and expectations and realities that schools face on the ground.

“As the Ministry, we are fully aware of some of the challenges you are facing. Therefore we find it befitting to regularly visit you so as to come up with amicable solutions to your challenges.” He claimed

He added “We really acknowledge the dedication you have shown over the years in ensuring that you satisfactorily teach learners to the best of your abilities.”

Furthermore, Minister Lesaso remarked that the government is taking up the outcome based approach to education. The approach calls for all stakeholders to realign their mindsets so as to enable pupils to pursue subjects of their interests and capability.

This will help in improving the country’s educational system. Meanwhile, the school visits by Assistant Minister Aubrey Lesaso was welcomed by School Heads.

The school heads remarked, “The presence of the Minister is a motivation on its own.” This is because it assures them of the Ministry’s commitment in addressing their welfare issues.

The Assistant Minister was accompanied by several important government officials inclucing:

  • The District Commissioner for Mahalapye, Ernest Phiri,
  • Regional Director for Central Mr Sonny Mooketsi
  • Chief Education Officers for Sefhare, Palapye, Mahalapye and Shoshong Sub Regions.

The schools that the Assistant Minister visited during his trip include, Dikgatlho, Mookane, Mokobeng and Mokgalo
