Cape Town: The city is ready for a busy week of events that is filled with concerts, rugby action, grassroots football and running events. The Events Permit Office of the City of Cape Town has permitted and will monitor at least 27 events going into the long Easter weekend.
Around 100,000 people are expected to attend the events that will take place in Cape Town this week and will lead into the extended weekend.
Member of the Mayoral Committee for Safety and Security – Alderman JP Smith said that as Cape Town prepares for a dynamic week of events leading into the Easter long weekend, the city is placing the highest priority on public safety. The Events Permitting Office will work closely with the Safety and Security Directorate agencies, which will ensure that all the events meet strict safety and compliance standards.
The coordinated approach is designed to protect the residents, visitors and event participants. With increased activity across the city, they are committed to maintain the order, minimise the risk and create a safe environment where everyone can enjoy the vibrant events of Cape Town responsibly and with peace of mind.
Approx. 22,000 people will descended at DHL Stadium on Wednesday, April 16, 2025 for world-renowned Italian tenor Andrea Bocelli’s 30th anniversary concert. It was accompanied by a 60-piece choir, a 69-piece orchestra, a special guest artist and the Cape Town Philharmonic Orchestra, Bocelli that took the stage at 8:00 p.m. for the two-hour long concert.
As per the sources, gates to the stadium will open at 5:00 p.m. In addition, a free MyCiTi shuttle service will be operated between the Civic Centre station and the Green Point Precinct for ticketholders from 5:00 p.m. More details can be extracted from the official website and the interested visitors can proceed further accordingly.

- Richmond Corner 10 km and 5 km race – by the Velocity Athletic Club beginning at 7:30 a.m. on Apr 19, 2025.
- Trinitarians U-14 Easter Tournament – from Apr 19 to 21, 2025 for the 17th year at Symphony Park in Belhar.
- Velocity Family Day 21 km & 5 km Road Running Event – on Apr 21, 2025 beginning at 7:00 a.m. from Atlantis City Mall.
