Cape Town: The City of Cape Town is all set to organise another event after hosting a successful Cape Town International Jazz Festival, last week. The city now will be conducting ‘I Got Rhythm’ from May 17, 2024 to May 26, 2024.
I Got Rhythm is Cape Town’s Ballet event that kicks off 90th year in May 2024 with David Nixon’s dazzling full-length, jazzy ballet. The dance event is all set to George Gershwin’s magnificent music that played big-band style by the Cape Town Philharmonic at every performance.
This fest is a flair in an appropriately celebratory fashion where ballet meets jazz in a perfect fusion of exuberant dance to sensational score played the Philharmonic Orchestra.
The dance event invites international and South African guest artists such as principal dancer David Ward from the United States, Darragh Hourides from Joburg Balletand Casey Swales from Durban and Jazzart soloists from Cape Town Opera.
Furthermore, stunning dancers dancing to gorgeous melodies of An American in Paris, Rhapsody in Blue, I Got Rhythm and more will be showcased at the May event.
I Got Rhythm is where Ballet meets jazz with the Cape Town City Ballet performing David Nixon’s full-length production joined by the Jazzart Company dancers.
The Cape Town Philharmonic Orchestra will accompany every performance along with the singers from Cape Town Opera. It will also display exquisite costumes and familiar music as mentioned above from an American in Paris, Rhapsody in Blue and more.
The dancing event will be observed at the selected venue Artscape, Opera House in Cape Town from 7:30 p.m. to 10:15 p.m. To be a part of it, the interested visitors need to purchase a ticket that ranges from R200 to R600.
