DFM Alumni movie “The Mother of All Lies – Kadib Abyad” has sent for participation at the Sundance Film Festival 2024, which will be held for ten days, from 19 to 29 January 2024.
The movie is a self-production of DFM Alumni and was made by a female Moroccon film director Asmae El Moudir. The director herself written the story of the film and produced it.
The DFM Alumni has shared a congratulatory post on their official social media handle and wrote, “We are thrilled to share that DFM Alumni 2021 ‘The Mother of All Lies – Kadib Abyad’ by Asmae El Moudir will be participating at the Sundance Film Festival (Spotlight) 2024!”
DFM Alumni is a part of Durban FilmMart Institute and is a non-profit company that facilitates local and international trade.
DFM itself is organising a yearly Durban Film Festival in summers that is going to take place in form July 19 to 22, 2024.
Asmae El Moudir has several titles to her name. She has won the Best Director Award and has also won the L’oeil D’or at Cannes Festival 2023.
About ‘The Mother of All Lies’
The movie ‘The Mother of All Lies’ is a documentary film which was made in 2023 in Arabic language. In the film, the director search for the truth of her family background, combining personal and national history. The movie was a co-production by Morocco, Egypt, Qatar and Saudi Arabia.
The world premiere of the film was shown at the 76th Cannes Film Festival where the maker of the movie Asmae El Moudir won the Un Certain Regard of Best Director award.
Earlier, the movie was selected for the Best International Feature Film at the 96th Academy Awards and was one of the 15 finalist films, which were shortlisted in December.
