President of Botswana, Dr Mokgweetsi Eric Masisi officiated at the groundbreaking ceremony for the Mogoditshane-Gabane-Mankgodi road. The event was hosted on Thursday in Ditlhakane, Botswana.
The groundbreaking for the road comes across as a major step towards improving Botswana’s road infrastructure. The Ministry is delighted with the programme and believe that the project will benefit the community tremendously.
The officials have shared that the 27 kilometer road will help to alleviate traffic congestion and bring significant development. The Ministry has also confirmed that the construction of the road is being managed under the government’s development manager (DM) model.
The President of the country delivered a brief address in honor of the beginning of the much anticipated project
In his speech, President Masisi underscored the significance of the project for the members of the community, stating, “The groundbreaking of Mogoditshane – Gabane – Mmankgodi road is yet another milestone achieved by my government under the Ministry of Transport and Public Works.
He appreciated the DM model approach as it is helping the administration in ensuring the successful delivery of this project. The President had previously promised the people to support development projects within the nation.
“The DM model provides a platform for youth employment by involving them directly in the delivery of projects”, President Masisi explained.
He added that the DM model allows the project manager to take risks of failure. This further ensures accountability and transparency throughout the construction process.
Minister of Transport and Public Works, Eric Mothibi Molale in solidarity with the president, stated that with the introduction of this new infrastructure, the government aims to facilitate smoother transport, reduce travel times, and improve safety for commuters.
The project is also a key contributor to the country’s broader economic goals. According to the administration, it is providing critical boost to local businesses and industries reliant on efficient road networks.
The construction of the Mogditshane-Gabane-Mmankgodi road is a part of a larger vision to modernize Botswana’s infrastructure with more projects expected to follow.
