Malawi: Ndirande Zone Youth Network (NDIZOYNET) has announced their plans to organize a clean-up exercise at Malabada and Ndirande health centres. The exercise will be scheduled for November 29, 2024. The aim of the programme is to highlight the importance of maintaining hygine.
The theme of the programme is: Empowering Youth, Cleaning Health Centres, Brightening Futures through Quality Care. Amos Brownd, NDIZOYNET Chairperson, announced that that the exercise aims at promoting youths involvement in issues of hygiene in Ndirande’s public places.
Brownd encouraged the youngsters to play a more active role in maintaining cleanliness in their respective communities. NDIZOYNET had taken the cleaning campaign previously to the Ndirande Main Market two months ago. The officials have shared they are on a mission to clan all thee public spaces to ensure good health.
He has asked the youths take the responsibility for this initiative and join the organization in support the campaign. The youngsters can play a very important role in promoting hygiene at the two health centres.
The aim of the programme is not only to cleanup, but also educate the community on the importance of hygiene. The Personal and home hygiene of the participants is also a major topic which will be addresseed during the campaign
Brownd called on he people of the country, wellwishers and donors to support the event. They can come forward and provide cleaning materials and supplies to make the programme successful.
NDIZOYNET is organizing the programme in collaboration with the Blantyre District Council, Youth Office. The officer said that they are happy with thee collaboration as it has inspuredmany collaborations and programmee
Harvey Chimaliro the executive director of CYO said that the organisation encourages the youngsters to give to community. CYO was a major support to the exercise at Malabada and Ndirande health facilities. They providedh 100 brooms, masks and gloves to the cleaning team.
Chimaliro hopes the campaign will help encourage more youngsters to participate, The youngsters should be responsible for maintaining beauty, hygiene and cleanliness in their surroundings.
CYO is working on implementing a project which is being called the Sustainable Future: Youth Empowering Youth in Climate Resilience and Livelihoods. The aim of the project is to promote youth participation in waste management projects in Ndirande and surrounding areas
