Africa’s two major men’s club tournaments, CAF Champions League and Confederation Cup 2026-27 reached their group stage matches. The CAF Champions League officially concluded with its second preliminary rounds. In the group stage matches, 16 football clubs across Africa qualified for the group stage matches.
On the other hand, the CAF Confederation Cup also has 15 qualifiers from football clubs across Africa for the group stage matches. According to reports, the two-legged second preliminary-round tie between AS Douanes of Mauritania and CR Belouizdad of Algeria has been postponed under an order from the Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS) on October 16, 2026.
For both the tournaments, the group-stage draw is scheduled to take place in Cairo, Egypt, on Wednesday, October 28, 2026. The group-stage matches officially commenced from Friday, November 27, 2026 and will conclude next year on Sunday, January 24, 2027. In the group-stage matches each club will play six matches in its group and the top two clubs in each group will qualify for the quarter finals of both tournaments. The 16 clubs will be divided into four groups of four teams each.
