Johannesburg: A gang of gunmen forced their way into a music video shoot and raped young women from the video in a small town in South Africa this week, reported and said by police Friday.
Police have already arrested three of around 20 suspects so far over the Thursday attack on the outskirts of Krugersdorp, a small Johannesburg town, said Police Minister Bheki Cele.
The gang first attacked the crew and cast team while offloading equipment and preparing the set, he told reporters.
Cele said the age of women was between 18 and 35, adding that one of the women was raped by 10 men and another by 8.
Even the men were undressed naked and robbed of their personal belongings, told reporters on the sidelines of a conference of the ruling party in Johannesburg.
A significant challenge facing our country today is crime and violence. Communities across the country live in fear, worried about gangsterism, armed robberies, rape and murder. Women and children are particularly vulnerable to the violence perpetrated against them by men. pic.twitter.com/P77f7YOyHw

Furthermore, they stated, “It looks like they were foreigners. Basically, they are Zama zamas,” he said, referring to people who illegally exploit mines in the country.
President Cyril Ramaphosa told in the conference that he had given orders to the police minister to ensure the perpetrators were “apprehended and dealt with”.
Rape is brutal under-reported in South Africa, but on average, one such crime is reported to the police every 12 minutes in the country.
