Botswana: The Ministry of Entrepreneurship recently hosted a meet and greet for the prestigious Jim Leech Mastercard Foundation Fellowship for the 35 Batswana entrepreneurs (cohort 2024) in Gaborone.
The initiative was aimed at appreciating individuals enrolled as fellows for the prestigious Jim Leech Mastercard Foundation Fellowship on Entrepreneurship (JL MCF) offered by the Dunin-Deshpande Queens University Innovation Centre, Ontario, Canada).
As they embark on this journey to empower themselves as the next generation of the solution finders. The Ministry found it fit to assemble them in a formal meet and greet session with other stakeholders.
This occasion offered a unique opportunity for aspiring entrepreneurs to engage with key stakeholders, learn more about the fellowship, and establish connections within the entrepreneurship ecosystem.
Leadership from the Ministry of Entrepreneurship, University of Botswana, innovation Centre and Orange Botswana Foundation had an opportunity to share insights and support aspiring problem solvers.
In his remarks, the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Entrepreneurship highlighted that the Ministry was established to ensure that there is socio-economic development, innovation and technology at the Centre of this initiative.
For her part, Deputy Permanent Secretary of Entrepreneurial Development, Ms Helen Chilisa, implored aspiring entrepreneurs to work hard, take advantage of this programme and pledge support as they embark on this life-changing journey that will offer the entrepreneur’s world training.
Throughout the training, they will liaise with mentors and speakers who are leaders in innovation and entrepreneurship in North America. The delegates will also have access to the global network of Queens’ entrepreneurial alumni.
