Zambia: The Police Force has arrested twenty one suspected illegal Immigrants for entering the nation through an unauthorized route. The arrests happened after the authorities received a tip-off from the public.
The informants claimed that they had seen some people hiding inside a wall fence in Makeni area along the 70-70 road. A team of officers was dispatched to the specified location wherein the suspects were found.
The Police Public Relations Officer noted that they found the suspects sleeping in grass at the specified location. Four of the individuals, who were also hiding inside a wall fence in Makeni area saw the police officers and fled.
The remaining twenty one suspects were male and have been detained in Police Custody till the immigration department takes further action. The nationality of these illegal immigrants has not yet been established.
The Zambian authorities are struggling with the issue of illegal immigrants in the recent past.
Many foreign nationals have infiltrated the country without proper paperwork causing concerns over safety and security of the people. Officers searched the area thoroughly and recovered a Toyota Corolla vehicle. The vehicle was believed to have been abandoned and had the registration number ABK 9582.
The people of Zambia have taken the opportunity to applaud the police officers for their diligence and hard work in ensuring the safety of the people of Zambia. The illegal immigrants can cause a serious safety concern and threaten the stability of the country.
The Police force has been working hard to contain this ongoing problem. The authorities are grateful for the support that they are receiving from the members of the community who act as whistleblowers.
Through this support, the police officials have been able to deal with an increasing number of immigrants venturing into the country. The people have however expressed their concern for the safety of the informants.
Some people believe that that the lives of the whistleblowers can be put in jeopardy for the jeopardy if their identities are revealed.
