South Africa: Amouti – KZN has reported a double murder in the community with one of the victims being a known gangster. The other victim, a 45 year old woman has no known history with the law enforcement authorities.
The incident happened on in the evening hours of Saturday. The members of the community heard the sound of several gunshots in the area. Afterwards, the members of the community contacted the Reaction officers at approximately 18:48.
The team of reaction officers which was dispatched to the scene had to abandon their vehicle and walk to the mountainside on foot. The reaction officers shared that the community contacted the Reaction Unit South Africa at the Operations Center in Phoenix – KZN.
On arrival, the reaction officers were escorted to the first scene of crime by the members of the community in Amouti – KZN. They walked to the first scene of crime on foot where they found the first victim.
The 35-year-old victim was found on the footpath with a single gunshot wound to his head. The reaction officers also found an unlicensed 9mm pistol with a filed off serial number & a magazine lying next to him.
The Paramedics accompanying the reaction officers declared the victim dead. The officers also identified the victim as a known gangster who had been released from Prison in March 2024.
The officials have shared that afterwards, they were led to the scene of the second murder. The second victim, a 45 year old wo 45 year old female was found lying on the floor of her lounge.man was found lying on the floor of the lounge in her house.
The investigations suggested that the victim had sustained several gunshot wounds on her chest and hands. She was also declared dead by the investigating officers after a brief examination. The reaction officers found spent 9mm cartridges were in the room where the murder allegedly happened.
The reaction officers believe that the woman was the first victim who was shot and killed by the male victim. It is unclear whether the man shot himself after killing the woman or was murdered another person.
The reaction officers further suggested that they are continue to investigate the matter.
