Kenya: The Kenya Forest Service Inspector Cadets and Forester Trainees have completed a three week field tactical training exercise. The exercise which was hosted at Soysambu Ranch in Gilgil, Nakuru County concluded on Thursday.
The Chief Conservator Forests Alex Lemarkoko was present at the training venue for the conclusion  of the training, He welcomed the Principal Secretary State Department of Forestry Gitonga Mugambi and the Vice Chairman of the KFS Board of Directors Kunal Chowdhari to the training venue.
The officers were also present to encourage the when they visited the officers to appreciate the progress of their training. The officials have shared some glimpses from the training on their social media.
Mugambi congratulated the officers for showcasing a spectacular demonstration of their training. He asked the officers them to utilise the training to protect and sustainably manage forests once they pass out.
Kunal Chowdhari, who was representing the Chairman Titus Korir spoke briefly during the closing of the training. He commended the officers for undergoing a grueling paramilitary training for the past five months to get themselves ready.
He encouraged them to complete the course strong noting that they will pass out in the next one month. He added that the board had prioritised staff welfare as a way of motivating them to deliver services to the public.
Later, the Kenya Forest Service CCF Lemarkoko thanked the Board for supporting the reform process in the Service. He said that the support had enabled the recruitment of the officers under training.
He warned the KFS personnel against engaging in illegal activities warning that stern action will be taken against officers found culpable of misconduct. Â He encouraged the officers to uphold integrity and hard work once they are posted to their stations.
The three weeks field exercise which they  is part of a six months paramilitary training for the 102 inspector cadets and 467 forester trainees who will be posted to forest stations across the country upon their graduation.
