The heart is a passionate storyteller.
It is talkative; but chooses to leave many things unsaid.
It thrives on intuition and is all-knowing.
It dislikes U-turns.
It is a realist who eagerly takes leaps of faith;
a pugilist who telegraphs its punches;
and a pacifist who turns the other cheek.
But the heart is not spineless.
It will take a stand, alone if necessary,
because it understands its own heart.
It will champion compromise
but remains true to itself.
It always decides its own path,
even when it closes doors to its own happiness
and lives in the unhappiness of a fool’s paradise.
It knows how to pretend but refuses to lie.
It honours its obligations.
But openly admits its own limitations.
The heart accepts that forever means forever;
but knows forever is sometimes relative.
The heart is a demanding and noble soul
who also wants to be selfish and intentional.
But the heart should never be judged casually,
pigeonholed in stereotypes.
It is many things; brave, determined, but not impetuous.
It deals in the business of hope,
yet it is neither afraid nor ashamed to acknowledge its mistakes.
It is a master novice who learns, adjusts, and auto-corrects.
It is kind-hearted, long-suffering, and generous to a fault,
but the heart is not stupid.
