The Chairman of Asari-Toru Local Government Area, Onengiyeofori George, held an interactive session with the Buguma Council of Chiefs in a town hall meeting. The meeting took place on Saturday, October 21, 2023.
The local government leaders and the community chiefs convened the meeting to discuss security arrangements for the burial of the Amanyanabo of Kalabari.
The death of King Prof. TJT Princewill, Amachree XI, is being widely mourned in the community. The people throughout the community will be attending the funeral and burial service of King Prof. TJT Princewill, Amachree XI.
The purpose of the meeting was to form a formidable Synergy between the government of Asari-Toru Local Government Area and the Buguma community. During the meeting, the local Government Area was led by Onengiyeofori George, while the Buguma Council of Chiefs represented the community.
Through the meeting, the two factions seek to ensure the security of lives and property before, during, and after the burial of the Amanyanabo of Kalabari, His Serene Majesty, King Prof. TJT Princewill, Amachree XI.
The Asalga helmsman, Onengiyeofori George assures the Council of Chiefs of his resolve to ensure that the socio-economic well-being of all Asalgans takes top priority in the scheme of things. He also addressed various issues of utmost importance to the masses, including power supply and other utilities.
The Chiefs in Council were also briefed on the state of the Buguma Cemetary, saying that steps are being taken to sanitize the place and make it fit.
According to the Chairman, all security checks are in place, and Asalga will always be peaceful and homely throughout the period. Currently, challenging quarters are being looked into, and major steps are being taken to curb any emerging potential facet of crime and criminality in the area.
He however called on parents and guardians to warn and caution their children and Ward(s) to maintain peaceful dispositions to sustain the already existing peace and serenity in the area, as peace is a panacea to the development and prosperity of any people.
