Botswana: Botswana Congress Party has laid out their vision for the future of Botswana ahead of the national elections. The party currently occupies 7 of the 57 seats in the National Assembly of Botswana and is one of the opposition parties for the Botswana.
In preparation for the elections which would be responsible for electing the new government of Botswana. The BCP has announced a ten point plan to “Save Botswana” ahead of the polls.
The party believes that the administration needs a change for the overall good of the people. The elections will allow the people of the country to chose the leaders that they believe would represent them best.
The Botswana Congress Party has specified the ten point plan which includes the following promises
- A High Wage Economy that Works for All
- Bring back our exported jobs
- Create 250,000 jobs by 2029
- Sustain a statutory living wage of F4 000 per month
- A society that cares for its most vulnerable members
- An Old Age Pension of P1500/month
- A means tested child Support Grant of P300 per child
- An unemployment grant of P600/month
- Universal Access to Quality Relevant Education for All
- Free and compulsory Standard-based preschool, primary, secondary education for all
- Double pass rates for JC and BGCSE
- Reintroduce Extracurricular Activities
- investment in the well-being, professional development and career progression of educators
- A 26-day compensation for teachers participating in extracurricular activities
- Access to Quality Health Care for All
- Health checks for all every two (2) уears
- Timely access to emergency and specialized healthcare for every Botswana
- Progressively convert clinics and hempitals into state of art 24HRS comprehensive health centers providing the both behavioral and physical health services
- “Learning or Earning” for Every Young Person Youth
- Drastically reduce the number of young people not in employment, education, and training (NEET)
- Enroll the 170 000 unaccounted for young people in graduate programs and skill training program
- Nationwide state-of-the-art recreation and training centers
- Economic support to position the creative industries and the arts at drivers of economic growth and employment

- Build a large scale power plant to fulfil Botswana’s energy needs

- Price floors in both the livestock, arable and horticulture sub-sectors
- Invest in essential infrastructure such as electricity, water, access roads and internet connectivity.
- Develop a secure regulatory framework for the development of a cannabis industry

- Accelerated land serving and reduce the waiting list for land allocation by half
- Introduce a credit guarantee scheme for young and low-income people to access decent and affordable housing

- A DCEC with legal and budgetary independence from the executive and secure tenure for its head
