Botswana: Botswana National Sport Commission (BNSC) is gearing up to host the much anticipated, decorated 43rd Botswana Sport Awards. The annual awards event in the sports sector of Botswana are scheduled for 18 May 2024. The Royal Aria Convention Centre in Gaborone will serve as the venue for the event.
The sports awards will be attended by a number of officials from the Ministry of Sports. Other significant attendants will include past and present sports legends of the country who have made Botswana proud.
The awards ceremomy is to recognize and honor the sportspersons of Botswana and encourage them to perform well in future. The Botswana National Sport Commission has been organizing this event every year for over four decades.
Several generations of sportspersons have received the accolades they deserved. For the 43rd edition of the event, they will honour and celebrate the outstanding achievements of Botswana athletes, umpires and administrators.
The competitive categories include:
- umpire/referee of the year
- Sportswoman and sportsman of the year
- sportswoman with disability and sportsman with disability
- junior sports woman and sportsman of the year
- Sport Administrator of the year
- Team of the year
- Coach of the year
- Non-Citizen sport award
- National Sport Association of the year
The public athlete of the year award is also one of the catagories in the awards event. Under this category, the public has an opportunity to nominate their preferred athlete and team of the year.
The recipient will have to garner the highest public votes to get the award. It is being considered as one of the most important segment. The officials have shared that the member of the public can vote for their favorite sportspersons or teams all the way up to the night of the awards.
