Botswana: Botswana President Dr Mokgweetsi Eric K. Masisi, together with the American Comedian, Motivational speaker, Radio & TV host, philanthropist, and the President of Steve Harvey Global, Steve Harvey, officially launched studio four at Mass Media Complex.
The partnership between the government of Botswana and Steve Harvey global is expected to catapult Botswana into the global creative economy.
Speaking at the event, Dr Masisi said that as a democratic, accountable country that listens to its people, the project is solely for the creatives to take local content creation to the world.
He said the partnership with Harvey will yield and make Botswana a significant player in the film industry. Dr Masisi also explained that the expansion of BTV is expected to accelerate the creative industry and bring rise to the country’s economic growth.
He further expressed his excitement for the creatives as Botswana will become a hybrid of talent to the world. Dr Masisi indicated that tourism will drive the creatives through photography and show the world first-class content.
For his part, the Media star Steve Harvey said that the partnership is one project that is very close to his art of TV and Media, and therefore, he will go beyond to help the youth in Botswana, whom he believes have a lot of talent to be taken out to the world.
He said that his relationship with Botswana will bear a fruitful meaning to the industry as he brings guidance and expertise from the United States, who know the real secrets of the industry. He said that the refurbished studio has got excellent world standard that will produce films and TV shows and, by so doing, facilitates more jobs for the youth.
The Global Icon mentioned that they are going to produce a full show of Africa’s funniest home in Botswana and a set of Family feuds which will be produced in South Africa and all these television shows will involve the creatives of Botswana who will be trained and be involved in the whole process.
Harvey highlighted that they will produce Family Feud AFRICA in Botswana, where different countries in the continent of Africa will come to experience kt, and this is expected to roll out more jobs for the youth.
For closing remarks, the Assistant Minister of Youth, Gender, Sport and Culture Buti Billy, thanked the government of Botswana and Steve Harvey Global for the exciting opportunity that will place the value of the creative industry to the global market.
He thanked the Ministry for State President for successfully implementing the project, which will expose the creatives to the tutelage of some of the best mentors in the world and is expected to yield productions of global standards that will position Botswana as a place to come to for vetting content production.
