The first seminar Mr Makuku hosted was in 2018, titled Arise And Shine Empowerment Seminar at Livingstone Kolobeng College; at the time, he was 18 years old. In the following year (2019) he took to the road and travelled as far as Mokgenene, Molepolole, Monwane, Ramotswa and Mochudi to be an inspiration to students there.
He has a well-touched base with local schools such as G-west Junior, with his impeccable teachings yielding remarkable results in the lives of many. His words of encouragement were not without demonstration, as he also gave them a helping hand in terms of stationery.
In 2020 Mr Makuku joined the Ultimate Motivational Speaker Competition, and out of the 80 that auditioned, he made it to the top 10. The competition allowed him to build his communication and presentation skills as they had eliminations every Friday.
Having embraced the ups and downs of life, he put his story in writing to inspire his contemporaries in his book titled Arise and Shine. In 2021 Mr Makuku hosted Swift Mpoloka and Mr Mafule as they joined him for a masterclass, ‘Create The Culture Masterclass’, which was aimed at equipping the attendees with wisdom on creating capacity for their dreams and changing their perceptions towards personal development.
Six months down the line, he hosted a Corporate Retreat, ‘The Arise And Shine Retreat’, which equipped the audience on financial literacy; he hosted Cathy Sibanda (Financial Coach) and Letso Thaba (Lawyer).
Mr Makuku has given keynote speeches at book launches, seminars and beauty pageants; in 2019 and 2021, he was a speaker in the Igniting A Shift seminar hosted by Mr Mafule.
In 2021 he also received the honour of launching Naiye Popo’s book. Mr Makuku has had the opportunity to be interviewed by a couple of our local radio stations, like Duma FM, where he was invited by Mmangaka; he profoundly spoke on sound issues affecting both the young and the old in line with his book.
He also did a segment with Dj Gouveia on RB2 where he spoke intensely on perception, family and identity. It was after these interviews that Batswana flooded his inbox with great
gratitude for the transforming wise words and some with invitations for events and partnerships. Courageous Men International has awarded Mr Makuku with a MOCA Award – Best Youth Leader.
