Botswana: The Sandveld Ranchers Association field day was held on the 28th and 29th of April 2023 under the theme “Sustainable Livestock Farming Amidst Economic and Environmental Challenges.” Mr Kitso Ramahobo and Family hosted the event at Gambee Cattle Ranch, where various farmers, private entities and government representatives, including the Ministry of Entrepreneurship, attended.

Botswana: The Sandveld Ranchers Association field day was held on the 28th and 29th of April 2023 under the theme “Sustainable Livestock Farming Amidst Economic and Environmental Challenges.” Mr Kitso Ramahobo and Family hosted the event at Gambee Cattle Ranch, where various farmers, private entities and government representatives, including the Ministry of Entrepreneurship, attended.

The event provided a platform for livestock farmers to share experiences and ideas on how to develop and grow their sector. It also offered stakeholders an opportunity to showcase their products and services.

The Minister of Entrepreneurship, Hon. Karabo S. Gare, was in attendance and delivered the keynote address. In his address, Hon. Gare said part of his mandate is to “transform the country’s economy into a high income status in value chain development.”

He further explained that CEDA, LEA, BMC and BAMB are now parastatals under his Ministry aimed at driving Value Chain Development.

The Sandveld Ranchers Association Field Day was officiated by the Minister of Agriculture, Hon. Fidelis Molao, who stated that his Ministry still remains committed to working with farmers to feed the nation and create wealth through various government policies, programs and projects to improve and achieve socio-economic status.

Hon. Molao told the farmers that he was aware of the bad road conditions in their area and assured them that the government will construct roads to enable farmers to effectively transport their livestock to BMC and other markets.

In his vote of thanks, the chairman of the field day preparatory committee, Mr Gabolekwe Tlogelang, thanked all the farmers and stakeholders for turning up in large numbers, and he especially thanked the two ministers for gracing this event. He further thanked the Minister of Agriculture for considering the construction of the Sandveld Ranches roads, which will improve efficiency in transporting livestock and other goods.
