St Kitts and Nevis: The Prime Minister of St Kitts and Nevis, Dr Terrance Drew proudly announced that another child from the federation will benefit from the Children’s Medical Fund. The newest beneficiary of the government stipulated fund isa boy who has suffered injuries due to a bite.
The child was swimming in the ocean when he was injured while swimming and reported serious injuries. The officials have shared that the child needs stringent treatment which is not adequately available in the country.
The government is facilitating the travel of the child for treatment purposes under the children’s Medical Fund.
The child has been given initial treatment for his wounds at the JNF General Hospital. The child will be traveling out of the island for further treatment.
The Prime Minister met with the child and his family. He checked on the child’s situation and assured the family of the government’s continued support as the child undergoes treatment.
The Prime Minister took to his social media to share his appreciation towards the programme which supports the treatment of the children. He thanked the Pediatric Assistance League of St Kitts and Nevis for their support. The PALS have been working in collaboration with the Children’s Medical Fund to provide treatment to children.
The programme, which was first announced by the Prime Minister of St Kitts and Nevis, Dr Terrance Drew in 2022 has helped many children. Three children have been afforded life saving treatment with the support of the government fund
The Prime Minister, who instituted the initiative has met the parents of all the children who received assistance through this fund. The people of the country have benefited significantly through this initiative.
Children in need of emergency healthcare overseas do not have to sideline their health due to financial constraints. This is the aim of the Terrance Drew led administration, which suggests that no child should be denied healthcare based on their economic capability.
The children’s health fund is one of the first healthcare initiatives that PM Drew announced after he took up office.
