Malawi: Assistant Coach for Chitipa United Football Club, Gift Mkamanga died suddenly on Thursday during a CAF B Coaching Course in Blantyre. The death of the coach came as a shock to thee club members and the fans of the organization.
The assistant coach was highly respected among the team and enjoyed a great rapport with several players. The news of the death was confirmed from the leadership from the Chitipa United Football Club.
The officials have shared that the team and management are grieving the unforeseen and sudden loss of their team member. The Chitipa United FC General Secretary, Watson Kabaghe confirmed the death of Mkamanga in a media interview.
He also confirmed that till the moment of his collapse on Thursday, he was assisting Chitipa United Coach, Christopher Nyambose. The officials have shared a statement announcing the death of the management tam member.
The patrons and supporters of the team have come forward to share their condolences and offer their support to the team at this time. The Chitipa United Football Club has also extended their support to the family of the assistant coach
General Secretary, Watson Kabaghe said the club has lost a dedicated Assistant Coach. He had led the team from SIMSO Northern Region league to promotion into the elite TNM Super League.
“The team feels profound sadness in sharing the tragic news of the sudden passing of the team’s beloved assistant coach, Gift Nathaniel Mkamanga. The deceased tragically collapsed this morning at an ongoing CAF B Coaching Course at Chiwembe in Blantyre.
They have called on support from the football fraternity of the nation. He said that Mkamanga’s body is currently at the College of Medicine for a postmortem, adding that further details would be shared in due course.
Chitipa District Sports Officer, Rowland Harawa, has described the death of Mkamanga as a blow to the football fraternity in Chitipa and the country as a whole.
“Mkamanga was a great coach who promoted football in Chitipa district by nurturing young talent,” he said.
