Zambia: Chitandika Police Post in Chipangali District of Eastern Province is set to undergo re-modifications after the Police Force asked for it. The officials have announced that the renovations will be carried out at a total cost of K100, 000-00.
The renovations will allow the police force to meet the required standards for operation in the community for the safety and security of the people. The officials have urged the members of the community to remain patient and support them as they construct the facility.
The community call for better equipped facilities for the police officers working in various ranks. The officials have shared that the Zambia Police Service had made the request for the renovation.
Chipangali Town Council Secretary, Francis Ndola made this known to the media during an interview. He said, “The re-modification is due to a request by Zambia Police Service to have the structure re-designed to meet the standard requirements for a police post.”
The presence of a police post is crucial to uphold peace and stability within the communities. At the same time, it is also crucial to make sure that the facility is fully equipped with all the necessities.
The Chipangali Town Council Secretary Ndola disclosed this during the Full Council Meeting held in Chipangali.
“We have since attended to the request by Zambia Police to re-design that project and find another contractor to do the re-modifications at a total cost of K100, 000-00 to suit what the police indicated,” he said.
Futher, Ndola said the project should be completed in the next one month and the Police Facility will be available for use. The officials have shared that the community is looking forward to the new improved facilities at the police post.
Further, Council Chairperson, Maxson Nkhoma, noted that the Police Post was a community house which was surrendered to Chief Chinunda by his subjects and that it should be turned into a Police Post due to the high crime rates in the area.
