Botswana: Yesterday, Fashion Without Borders celebrated its 9th anniversary. The fashion extravaganza itinerary includes three days of various fashion events and activities, which include, among others, an exclusive fashion showcase and art exhibition at Gaborone National Museum.
This year’s event is celebrated under the theme “Diversity Through African Fashion”. The official launch showcased four young local designers and 1 South African designer.
Speaking at the launch, the Co-Founder of Fashion Without Borders, Tebo Bakwena, expressed gratitude to all stakeholders for collaborating with them in this initiative. She highlighted that such collaborations help to shape and encourage local designers to venture into different sectors of creative arts.
The second day of the Fashion Without Borders extravaganza comprised the 5th Annual Fashion Unpacked Masterclass, which was held at the Grand Palm Hotel and Resort. The Masterclass is a programme that aims to highlight and stress the importance of exporting Africa’s rich and diverse culture and artistry.
For its closing, Fashion Without Borders will host a night of glitz and glamour with an exclusive Fashion showcase which will feature 13 young African designers and 50 upcoming models.
The closing ceremony of this year’s Fashion Without Borders extravaganza will encapsulate local music, talent, cuisine and art as a means of promoting Botswana culture regionally and indeed internationally.
It is the first time in history that this year, the young upcoming designers are ready to take over Africa Fashion from the tender age of 9.
