FC Muza move on to ABSA Cup Quarter Finals after 3-nil victory

FC Muza has defeated the Chirundu United team with a three to nil lead and secured their spot in the quarter finals of ABSA Cup.

Zambia: FC Muza has defeated the Chirundu United team with a three-to-nil lead and secured their spot in the quarter-finals of the ABSA Cup. The Round of Sixteen for the ABSA Cup is currently in progress.

Sixteen participating teams are playing in knockout matches to secure their spots in the next round of the tournament. Eight matches were played over the course of the previous few days, including the weekend matches. The winning teams will continue to move to the Quarter Finals.

The losing teams have been eliminated from the ABSA Cup contest. The Power Dynamos, another team that has qualified for the Quarter Finals, has also been eliminated. FC Muza’s victory has left its fans celebrating its success.

The match was played at the Nkoloma Stadium on Sunday.

The captain of the winning team, Kelvin Mwanza took the responsibility to score for the victory. He was ably assisted in the victory effort by Biston Banda and Andrew Phiri.

The match was most enjoyable for the fans of FC Muza, who are getting ready to face the Power Dynamos in the quarter-finals to be played later next month.

A series of matches for the round of 16 were hosted at different locations throughout Zambia. The results for these matches are as follows.

Green Eagles beat Athletico Lusaka two one to set up a date against Red Arrows.

Nchanga Rangers beat River Plate six-five on Post-Match penalties after a scoreless draw to reach the quarter-finals.

Meanwhile, Red Arrows thrashed FAZ Division One Northern Province side Malalo Police by a huge lead of seven goals to one. They have cemented their place in the  to reach the last eight of the 2024 ABSA Cup.

Kabwe Warriors will come face to face with the Lumwana Radiants on Monday to make a bid for the quarter final spot. ZESCO United will face Barotse Crocs for the same honour.

Further, all the teams working hard to become the winners of the 2024 edition of the  ABSA Cup will win a sum of K800,000. Meanwhile, runners-up will bag K350,000 at the end of the tournament.
