Cameroon: The Alatening community Santa subdivision’s 48th Annual General Meeting (AGM) has been hosted at the 1000-capacity multipurpose community hall in Alatening village.
The meeting of the Mezame Division of the North West Region was led by HRH Fon Nkwa Derick Suhfor III of Alatening village. Its primary purpose was to raise funds to finish the Alatening community water project.
It was an important project initiated to ensure the residents of Alatening village have access to clean and easily accessible water.
The Annual General Meeting was held to seek an opportunity to discuss the project’s progress. It was also hosted to tackle any obstacle and, most importantly, to secure the required funds to bear the fruits of the hard work done by the community.
Reportedly, HRH Fon Nkwa Derick Suhfor III’s leadership exemplifies the community’s dedication to enhancing the well-being of its residents.
Completing the Alatening community water project will be a remarkable achievement for the village, as access to clean water is a fundamental human right.
The water project initiated by the people of Alatening is being run under the leadership of HRH Fon Suhfor III. It aims to develop one of the most sustainable communities to lead rural water supply schemes in the region based on lessons that have been learnt from previous schemes as well as other community water projects in the North West Region of Cameroon.
The President of the Alatening Cultural and Development Association (ACDA), Elvis SAMA, has set up the Alatening Water Project Committee and called on Chairman Christopher Atanga.
They led the project from design stages, fundraising, construction and delivery to the people of Alatening.
The Alatening community Santa subdivision is known for its strong sense of unity and cooperation. The spirit of collaboration is an evident effort to secure funding for the water project. The community members work together to overcome challenges and to achieve their shared goals.
As the Annual general meeting progresses, the community leaders and residents are optimistic about future projects.
The Alatening community water project is dedicatedly supporting the water project. The project is actually on its way to become a reality and ensure a better quality of life for all who call Alatening village their home.
As per the sources, the annual meeting hold the discussions related to the water project and has featured many activities that were entertaining.
It holded the performances by the kids, which has entertained the attendees present there. It was great to see the community people gather there together and conduct such meeting for a great cause.
The scope of the project objectifies obtaining the information to finalize the technical designs of the project and collect the geo-localised data to enable the preparation of adequate maps of the key infrastructure on the scheme that included the scope, such as:
- To undertake the facts and assess all areas of understanding and providing technical guidance to the ACWP Committee.
- To finalise the scheme designs on the basis of comments that were received from the ACWP Committee and technical knowledge of rural water supply design and implementation.
- A fully financed project ACWP was based on the agreed design principles, that included the location of catchments, number of storage tanks, size of storage tanks that allows for future growth in population.
- The project cost must include an allowance for project management, that will commission and operate the cost for 1 year scheme. The cost should make allowance for the execution of the scheme over several phases.
