South Africa: The Department of Sports, Art and Culture launched the 2024 Mapungubwe Arts Festival on Monday. The aim of the event was to promote the culture and social cohesion among the people of the community.
The leaders have shared that the members of the community were also present at the launch event for the arts festival. The officials have shared that MEC for Sports, Arts and Culture, Funani Jerry Maseko was also present at the event.
The Member of the Executive Council talked about the role of the festival in uniting diverse cultural expressions. The 2024 Mapungubwe Arts Festival is highly anticipated event for the community and promotes inclusivity within the province’s arts sector.
The festival was launched with a long and comprehensive list of programmes. The officials have shared that the programmes start from November 2024 and run for several months concluding in March 2025.
The schedule of the 2024 Mapungubwe Arts Festival includes a variety of activities designed to engage and showcase local talent. The schedule is as follows:
Cultural Carnival which will include a vibrant street parade for the people of the community. The aim of the festival is to celebrate the rich cultural diversity of Limpopo Province.
Theatre, Drama, and Poetry Nights: The people of the community can enjoy evenings of which can help in bringing literary and performing arts talents of local artists to the forefront of the country.
Craft Market and Exhibition: The craft market and exhibitions will help in giving the artists of the province the platform to showcase their talents. In this market, they can sell the things that theey have created. The market and exhibition seeks to promot the talent of the local artists.
The festival will also feature Comedy Night for the communities to come together to appreciate locak artists humor and entertain themselves.
One of the main events for the Arts festival will be the Music Festival. The main concert will have performances by many renowned local artists.
The music festival will be followed by Mapungubwe marathon and youth and diva festival.
The officials have shared that the members of the community have been invited to participate in the events. The 2024 Mapungubwe Arts Festival has something to offer for people with various tastes and interests.
