South Africa: Limpopo Health MEC Dr Phophi Ramathuba is angered, hurt and saddened by the gruesome murder of a 41 year old Advanced Life Support Paramedic attached to Grobelaarsdaal EMS Station in Sekhukhune District in an alleged domestic violence incident.
It is alleged that the husband of the officer stabbed her with a sharp object over the weekend and ran away. Yesterday he handed himself to the local police concerning the same incident.
MEC Dr Ramathuba says the loss of life of one person to domestic violence is but too many. “We are extremely saddened about the gruesome manner in which our employee, a life saver, lost her life. Even sadder is that she is alleged to have died at the hands of someone she loved, her husband. It is very sad that we lost such a scarce skill to domestic violence,” said Ramathuba.
The MEC has also, on behalf of the department, sent out condolences to the family and colleagues of the deceased. Department has also arranged to counsel the family and colleagues.
Limpopo Department of Health also tweeted through their official account in which they stated that they and their department are in shock with the death of an Advanced Life Support Paramedic attached to Grobelarsdal EMS 2 domestic violence.
They added by saying that they are more in shock that the killer of the woman is none other than her love of life, her husband, who stabbed her with a sharp object over the weekend since her husband handed himself over to the police.
Limpopo Department of Health also used the hashtag #DomesticViolence as this is clearly a domestic violence case, and the second hashtag was #16daysofactivism.
