Long Street Swimming Pool of Cape Town is ready to welcome visitors

Cape Town: The Long Street Swimming Pool is back in business, after the completion of its renovation work, the facilities which has reopened with improved facilities and enhanced the safety measures.

The City of Cape Town is excited to welcome the visitors back to the historic landmark in the heart of Cape Town. Recreation and Parks Department has reopened the facility this morning and followed up with the maintenance work and renovations of the Long Street Swimming Pool.

Reportedly, the reopening of the pool marks a significant milestone in the revitalisation journey of the pool. The pool is a historical landmark in the heart of the city and has been undergoing through upgradation work and facilities, since February to enhance its facilities and ensure an even better experience for the visitors.

Member for the Mayoral Committee for Community Services and Health Councillor – Patricia Van der Ross stated that this is a momentous occasion for the community and water lovers alike. The project represents the commitment to providing a top-notch recreational facility for the residents.

There are some minor snags that still requires resolution and the city is committed to swiftly address and ensure a seamless experience for all patrons.

Furthermore, the measures were put in place to minimise the disruption to the pool users with the contractor who is committed to complete outstanding work outside of the operating hours.

The visitors will be informed of any ongoing installations which ensures their safety and convenience.

Considerably, the works which are complete are roof repairs and electrical compliance upgrades along with the interior touch-ups like the painting of the foyer ceiling and external façade, repairments to the cash office and other minor works.

Van der Ross added that they have recognised the value of the Long Street Swimming Pool that has been brought.

“We express our gratitude for the community’s patience and understanding throughout the renovation process and look forward to welcome back the patrons and see the pool once again bustling with the activity,” said Patricia Van der Ross.
