Mayor Austin Abraham inspires Botswana team for Africa Youth Championships

Botswana: The Botswana Table Tennis Team received the Mayor of Gaborone, Austin Abraham at the camp of the Junior Table Tennis Team. The aim of the visit was to encourage the team to perform well in the upcoming Africa Youth Championships 2024.

The competition is being held in Gaborone starting July 15, The ITTF Africa Youth Championships 2024 will bring all the table tennis enthusiasts and experts together for the week. The championship will conclude on July 21.

The championship will feature the following games:

U19 Singles: Men – Women

U15 Singles: Men – Women

U19 Doubles: Men – Women – Mixed

U15 Doubles: Men – Women – Mixed

U19 Teams: Men – Women

U15 Teams: Men – Women

The Botswana Table Tennis Federation is also working hard to get the junior team ready for the championship. The event will be hosted in Game City shopping over the course of the week.

Meanwhile, the Mayor of Gaborone, Austin Abraham wished them success in their attempt to represent the nation on the continental platform.  The Mayor was accompanying Deputy Town Clerk -Operations Ms Mosidi Batsalelwang to the training camp of the youngsters,

During his visit, Mayor Abraham engaged with the youngsters participating in the championship. He encouraged the team to train smart and focus more on making the country proud.

Further, during his interaction, He also explained how important it is to maintain good posture. He asserted that the fitness and a great mentality of success within the competitors will lead to sucess He went on to interact with the team by sharing a few exercises and mind refreshing concepts that will help them gain stability and concentration.

The youngsters were delighted to be a part of the exercise and thanked the Mayor for his time and effort. Previously, another notable athlete of Botswana, Former 400m sprinter Onkabetse Nkobolo also visited the youngsters in the training camp.

The event is being hosted in Gaborone, which is why the responsibility preparations for the event fall on the city council. The country will be hosting Table Tennis players from across the continent throughout the week.
