South Africa: Limpopo MEC for Sport, Arts and Culture, Ms Thandi Moraka, would like to take this opportunity to join Minister Nathi Mthethwa and the rest of the country to congratulate the South African Women’s Soccer Team on their historic triumph.
This is after the team won their first ever Women Africa Cup of Nations Tournament after being in the final six times.
The team, which is led by coach Desiree Ellis had won all of their five games in the tournament before beating hosts Morroco 2-1 in front of a 52 000 strong crowd at the Prince Moulay Abdellah Stadium in Rabat. The team will arrive back home on Tuesday, 26 July 2022.
The MEC would also like to send a special congratulatory message to players from the province for their recent achievements with the team.
The players Lebogang Ramalepe, Noko Matlou, Nomvula Kgoale, Hildah Magaia and Amogelang Motau all played a crucial role in helping Banyana bring the title back home to South Africa.
The department will have a special welcoming function to honour, appriciate and celebrate the players from Limpopo Province for a job well done.
“I would like to take this opportunity and congratulate all the players for a job well done. This is really encouraging, and it shows that we have pure talent in the country and the province. I would also like to thank each and every supporter who rallied behind Banyana in conquering the African continent,” MEC Moraka.
