Botswana: The Ministry of Transport and Infrastructure in Botswana has organized a wellness day programme. The ministry hosted the event on Friday in collaboration with the Department of Building Infrastructure Planning.
The aim of the wellness day event is to spread awareness about the prevention of Prostate and Cervical Cancer. The people of the country, especially the health stakeholders have been urging people coming from all walks of life to learn about these cancers.
The prostate and cervical cancers have been a major cause of concern for health stakeholders across the globe. One of the major reasons for this is that both these cancers are relatively taboo and people do not venture into hospitals to get regular tests and screenings done.
This is why the wellness day initiative from the Ministry of Transport and Infrastructure is highly crucial. The month of November is dedicated to events promoting awareness regarding prostate cancer among men.
The administration and people of Botswana have been commemorating the month with activities for several years. The wellness day is also part of the lineup of events.
The Ministry of Transport and Infrastructure wanted to sensitize their team on prevention and regular health checkups and screenings. The Ministry encouraged the team to take into consideration their health at all times.
Once the team can learn to prioritize their health and welfare, they can be convinced to go for regular physical checkups. The checks and screenings are the first step towards nipping cancers like Cervical and Prostate at the bud.
Early detection can help in ensuring the people of the community to make sure they start treatment at the right time. Another topic which was discussed during the event was women and men empowerment.
The ministry believes that it is important for the team to promote positivity, self esteem and self awareness. The Department devoted this day to team building activities. They played several interesting games which promoted a sense of camaraderie such as tug of war, egg race. soccer, mhele etc.
