Botswana: Miss Millennium 2023 hosted a high tea event that brought together women from different industries, media and stakeholders. Local and international celebrities met on Saturday at Mogoditshane at the popular jazz spot Millennium Jazz Restaurant.
The Assistant Minister of Trade and Industry, Beauty Manake, who was the guest speaker, had a mouth full to say. When speaking, Ms Manake outlined that she was motivated and empowered by the words of the guest speakers.
“I feel I shouldn’t be saying anything today; instead, seating on the other side with all of you because I was definitely empowered and motivated, and I will definitely be a better leader.”
In addition, she said that it is important that they register their organization if they have not done so so that they can be able to attract more sponsors that will help in reaching and making an impact in many people’s lives.
Beauty Manake found it fit to pledge a collaborate with the Botswana Gambling Authority and the Ratang women’s centre to work with them in cases of men and women affected by gambling problems.
“it is possible that there are many more people affected by gambling, both men and women, which is why I pledge that I will make sure that your centre is in contact with the Gambling Authority and me to help and educate those that might be having gambling problems or affected by this,” she said.
In the same breath, Ms Zenzele Hirschfield, who is the event organizer and the host, said that women are powerful when they work together and that her motivation comes from working with phenomenal women of substance that support each other. She also elaborated that since 2008 when Miss Millennium was first launched, it has been a collaboration between women, and it continues to stay that way.
Zenzele mentioned that “the pageant is a beautiful development with a difference; I wanted to do something that will completely change and impact women’s lives.”
Other speakers at the event, Mrs Tebogo Lebotse Sebego, Agatha Atlholang and Mercy Thebe, justified that as a woman, it is important to take care of oneself before taking care of everyone around her, mentally, emotionally and physically and also make decisions with a clear mind.
