Nigeria: The Chief Executive Officer, Institute of Human Virology Nigeria, IHVN, and Plateau State Labour Party, LP, governorship candidate in the March 2023 general elections, Dr Patrick Dakum, has eulogized and bidden farewell to his bosom friend, late Mr Simon Iliya Gotom, who passed away on March 5, 2023, and was laid to rest in Pankshin at the family graveyard Saturday.

Speaking at the funeral service at COCIN LCC Manung in Pankshin, Dakum illustrated his relationship with Gotom like that of David and Jonathan in the Holy Scripture, saying they were not related by blood nor connected by tribe, but the bond between them was very strong that they trod very intimately as blood brothers.

According to him, Gotom supported him immensely during his electioneering campaigns in most facets and was highly instrumental in the supply of the numerous political pieces of machinery he had on the ground. And he boosted his morale hugely, and it was much needed at that time.

Dakum further stated that Gotom was a true friend whom they shared ideas with and was very passionate about reaching out and assisting the needy. The death, he added, was a great loss.

Consoling Gotom’s wife and children using the Scripture, Dakum said, “the family and other believers will meet with Gotom on the resurrection day, adding that his departure from us is temporary.”

He quoted where the Scripture says the trumpet shall sound and all those that died in Christ will rise up first, and we that are alive will be caught with them in the air and be with the Lord for ever.

Dakum also comforted the wife and children to be strong with the promise that he will always be there for them and will not forsake them, seeing that they were already a family, and will support them forever.
