Kenya: The National Olympic Committee of Kenya (NOC-K) has officially launched the “Team Kenya – 100 Days to Glasgow” campaign at Karura Forest Reserve. It marks a major milestone in the country’s build-up to the 2026 Glasgow Commonwealth Games.
Reportedly, the launch was held during the scheduled FKF Race Series on April 26, 2026. This brought together the elite Kenya athletes, sports officials and key stakeholders in a unique blend of sports, environmental conservation and national pride under the “Road to Glasgow” banner.
The event was graced by the Incoming British High Commissioner to the Republic of Kenya – Matt Baugh OBE, President of NOC-K – Shardrack Maluki alongside senior dignitaries and representatives from the British High Commission – Kenya, sports and conservation sectors.
At present, the overall in-charge of Karura Forest Eco-tourism Facility – Munene Edward, whose support and coordination ensured the seamless hosting of the special FKF race series event within the forest reserve. The gathering featured a live screening/watch party of the London Marathon. This further connected the athletics heritage of Kenya with the global sporting stage.
This collaboration between the Kenya Forest Service, Friends of Karura Community Forest Association, Run Beyond and NOC-K highlights the growing synergy between environmental stewardship and sports development.
As Kenya intensifies preparations for Glasgow 2026 and beyond, initiatives like this inspire athletes and also reinforce the importance of conserving green spaces within the cities like Karura Forest as vital venues for community engagement, wellness and national events.
