St Kitts and Nevis: Prime Minister of St Kitts and Nevis, Dr Terrance Drew joined the rest of the nation to commemorate the National Heroes Day. The day is commemorated every year on the birth anniversary of the First National Hero of St Kitts and Nevis: Robert L Bradshaw.
The Prime Minister paid his respects to the past and present heroes and legends of the nation. He and the rest of the nation also honoured the people who have worked hard to assist in the development of the nation over the last four decades.
Prime Minister Dr Terrance Drew has honored the distinguished nationals of St. Kitts and Nevis for their dedication, service, and contributions to the nation. Deserving people of St Kitts and Nevis received Companion of the Star of Merit – For long and meritorious service.
Further, Medal of Honour was given to the deserving members outstanding and meritorious service to the Nation. The Prime Minister took to his social media and extended his heartfelt congratulations to the winners of the prize.
The following members of the community were given the Companion of the Star of Merit for their service:
- Conrad Kelly received the award for Agriculture
- David Huggins received the award for Business Entrepreneurship
- Desmond Hobson Tyson Sr. received the award for Community Service and Activism
- Edrice Lewis-Viechweg received the award for Education (Designer of National Flag)
- Elsie Liburd-Brandy received the award for Education
- Hanzel Manners received the award for Banking and Community Development
- Oliver Spencer received the award for Fishing Industry
- Orville ‘Sailor’ Thompson received the award for Sports
- Pearletta Lanns received the award for Legal and Judicial Services
- Roslyn Hazelle received the award for her contributions in Women’s Empowerment
- Rupert Herbert received the award for Education and Public Service
The following awardees received The Medal of Honour – For outstanding and meritorious service to the Nation:
- Allison Rouse received the award for Law Enforcement
- Jasmin ‘Jazzy D’ Clarke-Thomas received the award for Broadcasting
- Orvis Mills received the award for Early Childhood Education and Community Activism
- Patricia Richards-Leader received the award for Pioneering Business
- Viola Manning received the award for Nursing
The national heroes day is celebrated in the honor of the the past and present leaders of St Kitts and Nevis, who have inspired generations to dedicate their lives to the service of their nation. The national heroes are:
