St. Kitts and Nevis: Prime Minister Dr. Terrance Drew visited the Greenhouse Village at Brotherson Estate. He led a high-level delegation on this tour with an ambitious protected agriculture initiative, which is designed to boost local food production, reduce the Federation’s food import bill and create new opportunities for farmers and young people.
Considering this, the Prime Minister expressed that his enthusiasm at the significant progress being made on the transformative project. He added that it is expected to play a vital role in strengthening national food security and advancing sustainable agricultural development in St. Kitts and Nevis.
PM Drew also shared glimpses from the Greenhouse Village visit on his official social media handle. He stated that on Friday, May 22, 2026 he had the opportunity to visit the Greenhouse Village at Brotherson Estate and saw the firsthand progress, being made by the Greenhouse Village in Newton Ground.
Drew explained that the project is strengthening the food security of the nation. Along with this, it is creating opportunities for the people, empowering farmers and young people too. It is also working towards building a more resilient ad self-sufficient St. Kitts and Nevis.
According to the Prime Minister, they are moving from vision to action and from dependence to greater sustainability. He said that such projects are helping to shape the future they are building under the Sustainable Island State Agenda. A future where they produce more of what they consume, by creating more opportunities at home and investing in long-term national development.
Notably, the construction team of St. Kitts and Nevis is working continuously to deliver the continuous progress of the project.
During his visit to Greenhouse Village Prime Minister Dr. Terrance Drew was conjoined by the Minister of Agriculture – Samal Duggins; Resident Taiwanese Ambassador – Edward Ling-wen Tao; Permanent Secretary in the Ministry of Agriculture, Fisheries and Marine resources – Randel Thompson and Director of Agriculture – Stuart Versailles.
