JUBA, South Sudan: The President of South Sudan, Salva Kiir Mayardit, on Monday received Christmas greetings at his residence from senior government officials, religious leaders and army generals.
Among them were the First Vice President, Dr Riek Machar Teny and Vice Presidents, Dr James Wani Igga and Madam Rebecca Nyandeng Garang.
Speaking to the media after the greeting session, the Executive Director of the Office of the President, James Deng Wal, said President Kiir urged the gathering to pass the message of peace and reconciliation in their communities.
President urged the citizens that this is a period of reflection, hope, faith and forgiveness. He also added that the year 2023 would be a year of peace and development in our country.
President Salva Kiir Mayardit also received Christmas greetings from senior government officials, religious leaders and army generals.
Residents also participated and wished the President Merry Christmas, one of the Facebook users commented, “Nothing brings joy to ordinary citizens than seeing the country leaders embracing themselves and cherishing together. If they would continue maintaining such spirit and extend it to citizens in a genuine and honest manner, then South Sudan would be at a different level within the shortest time possible.

Salva Kiir Mayardit, F.V.P Dr Riek Machar Teny, All V.P.s, the entire government and other various levels of leadership, and to the citizens of this beloved land of braves and God fearing.”
Another user commented Congratulations to the President, and also congratulated first vice President Dr. Riek and vice Presidents, Rebecca John Garang and James Wanni Igga for coming together. The user also mentioned that this will only allow citizens to have peace and harmony in the country and also send out a message of peace among citizens too.
