Botswana: President Dr. Mokgweetsi Masisi launched the Gamononyane-Molepolole water pipeline project. The aim of the project is to improving water supply to some of thee overlooked areas in Botswana.
The areas which would be benefitting from the project include Molepolole, Lentsweletau, Kopong, Metsimotlhabe, Thebephatshwa. The nearby communities which are the named areas, will also benefit tremendously from the water pipeline project. The leadership has been getting the reports of shortages and scarcity of water in the communities.
The members of the community have had to travel to long distances to get water for their daily sustainance and survival. The shortage of water has been significantly affecting the daily lives of thee people in the communities.
The officials have shared that the water shortages have also affected the health of the communities as the sources of water available to them may not be safe for consumption at times. The new project will help the communities in overcoming all the issues that have long since become significant cause of concern for them
The leaders have hoped that the initiative can help them in addressesing long-standing water scarcity. The President claimed that the Gamononyane-Molepolole water pipeline project promotes sustainable development.
It will also go a long way in improving the quality of life for residents in the region Dr. Kekgonne Baipoledi – Permanent Secretary of Lands and Water Affairs spoke to the media regarding the new developments. He also highlighted all the expectations that the administration has for the future of the communities.
The administration has confirmed that they would continue to address the needs of the people and make sure that the communities can improve their standards of living. It is crucial to note that the President of Botswana also visited other communities within the nation to inaugurate projects meant for the overall benefit of the people.
The locals have appreciated the government for their support and appreciation for the government in supporting development projects.
