South Africa: The Premier of the Northern Cape, Dr Zamani Saul, together with five Members of the Executive Council (MEC), today honoured an invitation to attend the Citizens Community Forum hosted by the Public Service Commission (PSC) in Klein Mier, Dawid Kruiper Local Municipality in the ZF Mgcawu district.
The MECs in attendance were; The MEC for the Department of Education, Mr Zolile Monakali, the MEC for the Department of Sports, Arts and Culture, Ms Desirey Fienies, the MEC for the Department of Social Development, Ms Nontobeko Vilakazi, the MEC for the Department of Agriculture, Environmental Affairs, Rural Development and Land Reform, Ms Mase Manopole.
The day was also honoured with the presence of the Traditional Leader of the Komani San, Oom Petrus Vaalbooi, who started off the day with a remembrance tribute to the late Dawid Kruiper.
The objective of the day was to bring Government services to the people and to create a platform for transparent communication so as to strengthen the relationship between the community and governance.
The day was very well attended, with the Dawid Kruiper Local Municipality’s residents well represented.
The PSC Citizens Community Forum was also attended by Commissioners from six other provinces, namely Kwazulu Natal, Limpopo, Gauteng, North West and Mpumalanga, as well as the Chairperson and newly elected Deputy Chair of the PSC, Prof. Somadoda Fikene and Ms Zukiswa Mqolombo, who also formed part of the programme.
In his remarks, Premier Saul encouraged the community to continue working with Government to better the lives of the people. He committed to ensuring that the Northern Cape Provincial Government does more to improve the lives of the people of the Klein Mier Community, with a specific focus on the housing needs of the community.
