SAPS officially handover Police Station of Melmoth to Mthonjaneni community

South Africa: Minister of Police General – Bheki Cele and the National Commissioner of the South African Police Service – General Fannie Masemola has officially handed over the Police Station of Melmoth to the community of Mthonjaneni.

Reportedly, The Police Station was officially handed over during the official opening ceremony that was officiated recently. The ceremony was conjoined by the Mayor of Mthonjaneni Councillor – Mbangiseni Biyela and Municipal Manager – Ziphozenkosi Mthethewa as well as the traditional leadership.

As per the sources, the opening of Melmoth Police Station that forms a part of the South African Police Service has strategically directed towards the address policing the needs and to bring the police services closer to the communities, which are officially handed over, now.

During the month of April alone, numerous KwaZulu-Natal communities, namely Gamalakhe, Donnybrook and Melmoth will now be able to access the police services at their doorstep.

The South African Police Service has officially posted the photographs of the hand-over ceremony, in which the members of the SAPS can be seen glad to officiate the event.

Moreover, an incident has been occurred in the western cape by the police to rid the communities of the illegal distribution of drugs that landed two suspects behind the bars on Wednesday, May 01, 2024.

SAPS has taken this decision so that the crime happening in the vicinity of Mthonjaneni community can be detected earlier, and can also be resolved in a better manner.
