As per the United Nations, Ukraine ‘Antonio Guterres‘ said that their efforts must be focused in order to ensure the immediate cessation of hostilities, protection of civilians, preventing any actions and statements that may further escalate the situation, prioritizing diplomacy.
The spokesperson gave a Statement for the Secretary-General on Ukraine that the Secretary-general is highly concerned by the decision taken by the Russian Federation related to the status of some regions of the Donetsk and Luhansk regions of Ukraine. He even called for the peaceful settlement of the conflict in eastern Ukraine, following with the Minsk Agreements, as endorsed by the Security Council in resolution 2022 (2015).
The Secretary-General believes the decision which the Russian Federation takes to be a violation of the territorial integrity and the sovereignty of Ukraine and inconsistent with the major principles of the Charter of the United Nations.

As per the resources that the United Nations (UN), in line with the appropriate General Assembly resolutions, remains fully supportive of the sovereignty, independence and territorial integrity of Ukraine within its globally acknowledged borders.
The Secretary-General encourages all acknowledged actors to focus on their efforts on ensuring an immediate cessation of hostilities, protection of civilians and civilian infrastructure, controlling any actions and statements that may further escalate the dangerous situation in and around Ukraine and giving any priority to the diplomacy in order to address all issues peacefully.
