South Africa: Wesgro, the official tourism, trade and investment promotion agency for Cape Town and the Western Cape, hosted an inspiring ‘Road to G20’ engagement with women business leaders. The gathering was organised by the Circle of Global Business Women in partnership with GEMA Argentina.
It was a powerful engagement that was kicked off by the CEO of Wesgro – Wrenelle Stander, who challenged the audience to leverage the B20 platform not just for participation but also to ensure real action and change.
Road to G20 was a thought provoking panel, which was moderated by Dr. Sindisiwa Mzamo that included valuable insights from the CEO of Thokozani Wines – Denise Stubbs, Founder of Nurseit Primary & Occupational Healthcare Services – Cleopatra Van Ster, who is also the winner of 2024 EmpowHER Cape Town regional pitching event. The event also welcomed the co-founder of WomHub – Naadiya Moosajee.
These panelists highlighted their entrepreneurial journey and considered policy considerations that need to be factored into the G20 and B20 discussions. Moreover, the delegations from Germany and Argentina enriched the discussions on the day.
Notably, the B20 Summit is approaching later this year, Wesgro is concentrating on leveraging the important global platform to strengthen the collaboration and showcase opportunities for tourism, trade and investment in Cape Town and the Western Cape.
The Road to G20 gathering was hosted mainly to inspire Women in Business event. South Africa, road to G20 Presidency in 2025 and its subsequent role in the G20, is marked by a focus on developmental agendas.
It is bridging the gap between the developed and developing economies. Being the first African country to host the G20 Summit, South Africa aims to advance the interests of Africa through initiatives like climate-smart agriculture, food security and digital transformation, following the theme “Solidarity, Equality and Sustainability” and guiding its approach.
South Africa is also working to create new partnerships and support local processing of critical minerals. The G20 Presidency provides an opportunity for South Africa to showcase its potential and attract international attention.
