South Africa: South African famous actress Charlbi Dean Kriek died suddenly at the age of 32. As per her representative, the film star and model passed away on Tuesday from an unexpected, sudden illness.
As per reports, she died at a hospital in New York.
However, the cause of death has not been confirmed.
The up-and-coming actress‘ most applauded work is pending to be released publicly, with Dean’s final film credit in the critically acclaimed Triangle Of Sadness, which was awarded the Palme d’Or at the Cannes film festival in May.
The movie is a “dark comedy”, directed by Swedish Filmmaker Ruben Ostlund‘, and was met with an eight-minute standing ovation after its premiere at the iconic festival. It is planned to be released in theatres in October.
However, her family didn’t say anything about her death yet.
At the time of her death, Dean was dating South African model Luke Volker. The pair had been dating for four years.
He also uploads photos on a daily basis of Dean to his own Instagram page and also paid tribute to his fiancee on their third year anniversary in 2021.
He also wrote a caption with that photo: “Thank you for always standing with me for three years. You are a beautiful gift for me. Bring great honour to the family. All best for life with me, and I know I love you. Safe and Stable.
And recently, he also shared a photo of the couple at Cannes as he celebrated the success of Triangle Of Sadness.
He also shared a picture of their celebration and wrote, “The film is a blockbuster from top to bottom. Everyone did a spectacularly [sic] job getting it done. I couldn’t be more proud of you, my love.”
Dean was very active on social media in the lead-up to her sudden death, with her final post – a portrait from a recent fashion shoot for clothing brand Madewell – uploaded just five days ago.

Dean was born and raised in Cape Town and attended several May Cannes Film Festival events.
Even in 2008, Dean was on a long drive with her model boyfriend ‘Aston Schnehage’, who survived a severe car crash. She was hospitalised and went through a serious lifesaving surgery which left her with a prominent scar on her stomach.
Dean damaged two vertebrae and broke her wrist, four ribs and an elbow. She also suffered a collapsed left lung.
After the accident, she tried her best to recover and debut in movies in 2010 and shoot for Spud.
