South Africa: It is that time of the year when unemployed South African graduates pack their bags and relocate to different big cities seeking a fruitful life with infinite opportunities.
The Arts Careers Day was held under the theme “Unlocking the Wealth in Our Heritage” and aimed to expose learners, students, and out-of-school youth to careers available in the heritage arts industry.
Over 700 youth and work seekers braved the cold winter weather and attended a series of career exhibitions held in different areas around Dr Kenneth Kaunda and Dr Ruth Segomotsi Mompati District Municipalities, which were organised by the Public Employment Services (PES) unit of the Department of Employment and Labour in the North West.
The Department of Higher Education and Training (DHET) are hosting the biennial WorldSkills South Africa National Competition as an important mechanism of promoting artisan skills as a viable career choice and opening up potential partnerships with industry.
