Zambia: A house fire has resulted in the death of a 60 -year- old woman of Chiyalusha village. She was a resident of the Nchute Ward of Chongwe District in Lusaka Province. After the unexpected accident, the victim got burnt to death.
She was sleeping in her house when it allegedly caught on fire. The incident happened on Wednesday or Thursday. The investigating officers have ascertained the exact time of the incident. The Zambia Police service Spokesperson, Rae Hamoonga today identified the deceased as Catherine Shanyinde.
The officials have also announced that the victim was burnt beyond recognition after the house fire claimed her life. Police spokesperson Hamoonga revealed in a statement that the incident occurred between 20th December around 22:00 hours and 21st December around 08:00 hours.
According to the official, the inferno is alleged to have been caused by a brazier which was found in the bedroom.
Police Spokesperson Hamoonga further added that police have since instituted investigations into the matter. Meanwhile the body of the deceased has been buried. The police force has no information about the family of the deceased.
The people of Zambia have been sharing their condolences on the loss of life. They have appealed to the government to protect the lives of the elderly. Some social media users have allegedly that there may be external involvement to the house fire.
The people have requested the law enforcement agencies to conduct thorough investigation into the incident. People have expressed sympathies to the people that the aged woman left behind.
Meanwhile. an incident of house fire left a family of chasefu district homeless after the top of their thatched house caught fire. The fire eventually spread to the rest of the house resulting in all the possessions of the family being lost. This incident took place in early December.
Fortunately, this incident did not result in any fatalities.
