Zimbabwe Football Association (ZIFA) continues with the FIFA Referees Course in Harare, Zimbabwe. The training session commenced from Wednesday, April 11, 2024.
The referee courses started this Thursday morning. As referees go through some practical sessions led by the FIFA technical instructor – Felix Tangawarima and the physical instructor Bento from Mozambique.
Reportedly, with the FIFA Referee courses, ZIFA’s goal is to minimize errors in officiating the matches.
ZIFA has also shared glimpses from the training session and has also posted a video of instructor Felix Tangawarima training the amateur players on its official social media handle.
Earlier, on April 10, 2024, ZIFA has announced regarding the beginning of the official Referee Courses. They have also indicated that other than the technical instructor Felix Tangawarima, there will be other physical instructor Bento from Mozambique, who will help in shaping the course and will develop it as a game changer.
According to ZIFA, the match officials will be diving into theory and practical and will ensure that they are primed for the fast-changing world of football.
As per the sources, the organisers have hired ten female and twenty-five male referees officially from across Zimbabwe. Whereas, 14 official instructors have been included on the FIFA international panel.
Previously, ZIFA has refused to conduct any referee courses by FIFA, for which they have also released an official note and declaring the news as fake, on April 08, 2024.
But later, they announced about the commencement of the training session on April 09, 2024.
Following this, several people have praised the initiative by the Zimbabwe Football Association (ZIFA) for conducting FIFA referee courses.
A person named Munya Masiya commented in the praise of ZIFA, “Coaching Warrior’s Too!! Good Job ZIFA but on MAPEZA, not this time around as a nation, we shall take the streets to boycott. Candidates to have experience and exposure on domestic, regional and international leagues with excellent communicative coaching on EPL & PL & PSL Players Pfee on the post.”
