St Kitts and Nevis: Dr. Terrance Drew, Prime Minister of St. Kitts and Nevis was accompanied by the Minister Samal Duggins and other members of the government for the groundbreaking ceremony for the Conaree Stadium. The stadium project is being constructed in the Constituency of Dr. Terrance Drew.
The groundbreaking ceremony was hosted on March 10, in the presence of members of the Conaree Community and government officials. The Prime Minister delivered a brief address at the event.
The Department of Sports and Minister of Constituency Development, Joyelle Clarke was also present at the event.
The project is one of the first objectives that the Prime Minister sought to achieve within Conaree Community. The project will help the members of the community develop interest in the sport.
The stadium can serve as the venue for the St. Kitts and Nevis Football Association matches which are hosted throughout the year. Prime Minister shared that he was delighted to report that the stadium project is being implemented keeping the suggestions of the community in mind.
Dr Drew noted that the it is important to allow the members of the community to share their inputs for the development of their community. PM Drew noted that they included many suggestions of the community in the plans for the stadium.
The Drew led administration acknowledges that sports play an important role in the all-around development of the community. After the construction for the stadium, the community can come together to host events and cheer for their favorite football teams.
One notable aspect of the stadium construction is the inclusion of a ramp in the structure plans. According to Prime Minister Dr Drew, many members of the community had asked for the inclusion of ramps.
This is because, many members of the community use wheelchair for their mobility and including the ramp will increase accessibility for the wheelchair users. The Minister of Creative Economy, Samal Duggins was also happy with the development.
He noted that after the construction is complete, the stadium will be an excellent addition to the community infrastructure.
