South Africa: A 60 years old female from KwaZulu Natal confronted three men who stabbed her husband during an attempted home invasion on Maple Drive in Trenance Park – KZN, a short while ago (Saturday).
Reaction Unit South Africa (RUSA), which is an investigation team, received a call for assistance at approximately 12:21. Reaction Unit Officers and RUSA Medics were immediately dispatched and, on arrival, located a 75 year old male seated on a chair in the yard. He sustained a stab wound to his back and right hand. First aid was provided by a neighbour prior to the arrival of Emergency Services.
It was established that three men entered the yard and attacked the elderly male who was preparing a meal on an outside fire for his family, which was a part of his daily routine. His wife was in the residence at the time.
As she exited the house, she noticed the three suspects attacking her husband. Armed with a kitchen knife, the woman advanced towards the robbers. One of the men forced her to the ground before they grabbed a Nokia cellphone and fled through a dense bush opposite their home. The female was not injured.
The male victim was provided further medical assistance on scene and thereafter transported to the hospital by ambulance. However, this is not the first time that this kind of incident is happening in the area.
One of the local residents ‘Lisa Madurai’ of KZN, said, “Well done to the female; at least they didn’t attack her..speedy recovery to the male that was stabbed. It seems like u can’t be outside your own home. These days shame that older people seem to be easy targets for these ruthless animals. Imagine the trauma the old man is going through now, really sad.”
