South African singer Makhadzi has broken her silence amid an ongoing dispute with her Botswana-based promoter, Gilbert Seagile, claiming that she feels harassed, exploited and held against her will following a series of disagreements over their professional arrangements.
During a live social media broadcast, the singer, whose real name is Ndivhudzannyi Ralivhona, opened up about the distressing situation, alleging that men took her personal documents and vehicle while she was performing, leaving her stranded.
Expressing her frustration, Makhadzi said, “Even though it might not look like that in the background, the situation itself makes me feel like I am kidnapped. I feel like I am being taken advantage of.”
The 30-year-old singer further claimed that she had been harassed to the point where she could no longer tolerate the situation. Her comments have brought renewed attention to the reported dispute, which is understood to involve disagreements over previous performance and promotional agreements.
The disagreement reportedly centres on her earlier business arrangements and the cancellation of her upcoming One Woman Show, which was scheduled for December 24. The dispute between the singer and Seagile has reportedly escalated into a civil matter, with both parties facing disagreements over their contractual commitments.
Makhadzi, who hails from Ha-Mashamba near Elim in Limpopo, South Africa, is one of the country’s popular music stars. Born on June 30, 1996, she rose to mainstream prominence in 2019 following the success of her hit single Matorokisi, which helped establish her name across South Africa and beyond.
She is also widely recognised for her energetic performances and distinctive musical style. However, the latest controversy has shifted attention from her music career to the ongoing promoter dispute, with fans awaiting further developments and clarification from the parties involved
